The following are some of the main attractions in Melbourne Australia:

Royal botanic gardens

These gardens are just glorious and are located on a 94-acre piece of land at the centre of the city. They are among the best examples of the Victorian-era landscaping. Visitors can view a global selection of endemic Australian flora and plantings. It also features beautiful mini ecosystems like an indigenous rainforest, a herb garden as well as a cacti and succulents area that are set in vast lawns. The Royal Botanical Gardens attracts approximately 1.5 million visitors every year.

NGV International

The international branch of the famous National Gallery of Victoria is housed in a very beautiful building. It boasts of a large collection, which runs the gamut all the way from ancient to bleeding edge. There are some regular blockbuster exhibitions that draw in large crowds. In addition, there exist free highlights tours that last for 45-minutes, these are scheduled on a daily basis at 11 am and at 1 pm. One-hour tours happen at 12 noon and at 2 pm. The main works comprise of Turner’s otherworldly Falls of Schaffhausen, Picasso’s Weeping Woman, Tiepolo’s The Banquet of Cleopatra and Rembrandt self-portrait. Excellent furniture collection and decorative arts also form part of the gallery. The NGV building is a true modernist masterpiece and architect Sir Roy Grounds is credited for it.

Melbourne cricket ground

This among the largest sporting venues in the world. It is known for hosting Australian Football League and cricket. In fact, most Australians regard it as hallowed ground. There are tours on non-match days that allow tourists to view members’ lounges, change rooms, media and coaches’ areas and the stands. It houses the cutting-edge National Sports Museum.

Melbourne Zoo

This compact zoo is among the oldest in both Australia and the world over. It is a top attraction in the city because of its inventions, recently it was awarded the title of the first carbon-neutral zoo on the globe. It is located on beautifully landscaped gardens. Its enclosures perfectly simulate the natural habitats of animals thus providing them with the option of hiding if they wish to. The zoo has a massive collection of some native animals that are in a natural bush setting, plenty of reptiles, a platypus aquarium as well as a whole faux–South East Asian jungle village. There are also elephant enclosures, aviaries, Lemur Island and a tropical hothouse with gorgeous butterflies.

Other notable attractions in Melbourne Australia are Melbourne Museum, Royal Exhibition Building, Justin Art House Museum, Hosier Lane, Federation Square, Chinatown etc.

Conclusion

The above insightful information clearly indicates that Melbourne Australia is a beautiful destination with lots of attractions to offer. Plan a visit today and experience it for yourself.
