Fitness boot-camp classes facilitate a camaraderie sense among the participants through the involved team-building activities. The activities can happen through small teams, partner drills and as single large groups. Whether you will choose to take breaks from your exercises to conduct the activities or to incorporate team-building skills in the exercises, the participants will garner more benefits.
Through team building, the participants are able to participate in problem-solving, honouring the unique perspectives and qualities of others and developing good relationships, while working towards a common goal or to complete a task. If you would want to unite your group to start working and exercising together, here are a few team-building activities to try. The activities are easier to incorporate into any existing classes or set up and they will create a motivating and fun atmosphere that will increase the bonding level in any group.
Circle jumping
The goal of circle jumping is to help the team improve their comprehension and listening skills – and make them laugh a lot. To set up the team building activity, you just need to form a very large circle with the participants holding hands. After that, you will have to perform several drills each for 3-4 times. You will be the person to issue the commands and instruct your team to follow them, either by repeating or doing exactly what you have said or by repeating a command and performing the opposite. The commands include “Jump in”, “Jump out”, “Jump left”, and “Jump right”.
Drill 1: Say anything that I say and do anything that I say. If you say, “Jump in” the team will say it and jump at the same time.
Drill 2: Say what I say and then do the opposite. When you say, “Jump out” the team will say that and jump inside.
Drill 3: Say the opposite but do what I say. The team will jump to the right when you say, “Jump to the right” but say jump to the left.
ABCs
The ABCs are more effective when it comes to enhancing creative thinking and cohesion. To set up the ABCs, you just need to divide your group into small teams of 3-4 members. Each team will have to recreate every alphabet letter that you shout. First, allow the teams to create the letters how they wish. To challenge them, give specific directions such as make uppercase or lowercase letters and tell them whether they should make the letter when on the floor or when standing up.
100-rep workout
The goal of 100-rep workouts is to help develop a balanced team and help the people contribute to strategy formulation. To set-up the team bonding activity, you will have to set up 4-6 stations and ensure that each station has at least four exercises. The stations may focus on the lower body, upper body, jumping, core, and cardio. Include exercises like sumo squat, push-ups, DB bent over row, side lunges, DB triceps kickback, Hip Bridge, squat and front kick and DB biceps curl. Ensure that each member does 20 repetitions of every exercise and let the members decide on how to distribute the remaining 20 reps.
The workout finisher
The purpose of workout finisher is to enhance effort and coordination. Partners should face each other on two opposite sides of a room. Call out
